Summary

Regular ditched linear features in a field to the north of Stone Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are presumed to be part of a post medieval drainage system. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Regular ditched linear features in a field to the north of Stone Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprises a series of regular closely set parallel ditches that interlink with long ditches to form a network extending across the length and breadth of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The River Allen borders to the east.
The features are presumed to be part of a post medieval drainage system.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
