Full Description
Banked curvilinear features in a field on the east side of Cranborne Road, Wimborne Minster, are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features are located within a large irregular historic enclosure with pronounced curvilinear boundaries recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and probably at least early medieval in origin (2). The two features are situated around 85m apart and curve in towards each other at their southeast end, where they also abut a historic field boundary. The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of possible early medieval to medieval origin.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery and the features remain faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
