Full Description
Ditched linear features to the southwest of Long Lane Farmhouse, Holt, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are narrow and slightly curvilinear in form. They sub-divide a historic enclosure present on the OS 1st Edition map whose boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin (2). The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of possible medieval date, although a later origin is also possible.
The site is still fields and the features are still visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
