Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features on the east side of Dean Grove, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are narrow and broadly rectilinear in form. They sub-divide a historic enclosure present on the OS 1st Edition map whose boundaries may include some of medieval origin (2). The features respect the north and east side of an area of probable post medieval narrow ridge and furrow (MDO40803), suggesting they pre-date, or are at latest contemporary with, this. The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is currentyl a school sports field and the features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
