Full Description
An area of ridged cultivation marks to the east of Dogdean Farm, Holt, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are faint but appear to comprise widely spaced parallel ridges set around 7m apart with 2m wide ditches in between. They occupy the east side of a small historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and appear to continue beneath a field boundary present in 1946 but post dating the c1880s. The features suggest possible medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The features are still within fields on current Google Earth imagery but no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
