Full Description
Two areas of ridged cultivation marks on the southeast side of Long Lane, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise parallel ridges set around 4.5m to 4.75m apart with 1.4m wide ditches in between. The ridges are regular and straight in form and run parallel to adjacent historic field boundaries.
The features may be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow, possibly the result of later 19th century steam ploughing.
The features are still partially and faintly visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
