Full Description
An area of ridged cultivation marks to the south of Pilford Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features comprise parallel ridges set between 4 to 5m apart with 1m wide ditches in between. The ridges are regular and straight in form and run parallel to adjacent historic field boundaries.
The features may be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow but it is also possible they are later in origin, possibly the result of 19th century steam ploughing.
The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
