Full Description
Two areas of cultivation marks at Canford Bottom, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise parallel ridges set around 2m apart and interset by 1m wide ditches. The features occupy irregular historic enclosures present on the OS 1st Edition map and which may incorporate boundaries of both medieval and post medieval origin. The features are considered to be historic cultivation marks of possible post medieval narrow ridge and furrow, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is under housing off Jessop and Sunnybank Roads on current Google Earth imagery. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
