Full Description
An area of cultivation marks to the southwest of Park Homer, Colehill, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a broadly rectangular 73m by 53m area of parallel ridges set around 3m apart and interset by 1m wide ditches. The features occupy a large historic enclosure present on the OS 1st Edition map and whose boundaries may be medieval in origin. They are contained on their north and west sides by former field boundaries (MDO40757) of possible post medieval origin, which sub-divide this larger enclosure. The features are considered to be historic cultivation marks of probable post medieval narrow ridge and furrow, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is under what is now the south side of Park Homer Drive on current Google Earth imagery. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
