Full Description

A series of ditched linear features to the northeast of Cottage Farm, Colehill, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise narrow curvilinear and rectilinear ditches that interlink and cross each other at irregular intervals and angles. The features are aligned along a broadly southeast to northwest axis and do not appear to correspond with adjacent historic boundaries of probable medieval origin. It is possible that they are field boundaries and perhaps trackways that form part of a late prehistoric field system of Iron Age or Romano-British date, although a later origin is also possible.

The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
