Summary

Bronze Age bowl barrow surviving as a low earthwork. In 1972 this monument was recorded as approximately 45 feet in diameter with a mound some 1 foot high. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

Four ditchless bowl barrows. That to the west (RCHM No 17) is sited at ST 88901489. <2>

The Iwerne Hill Group comprises four barrows on the crest of the escarpment. All have been reduced by ploughing; (17) is in arable land, the others are under grass. (18) Bowl (ST 89061493), 140 yds E N E of (17); diam 45ft ht 1ft. <4>

All four barrows are now in arable land, and severely plough-reduced. ST 89051493 (RCHM No 18) The site is marked by a heavy flint scatter, circa 11.0m diameter and 0.1m high surrounded by a 4.0m wide band of dark soil. Revised at 1:2500 on AM.
