Full Description
A series of ditched linear features on the east side of Leigh Lane, Colehill, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise interlinking narrow rectilinear ditches that feed into or cross a deep curvilinear ditch that may be a leat or deep drainage channel. A further drainage channel or leat adjoins this feature at its western end. The features are presumed to be part of a post medieval drainage system; this may have been truncated by the construction of the Southampton and Dorchester railway line to the south .
The features are still visible within open fields on 2012 Google Earth imagery (2). They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
