Full Description
Banked linear and curvilinear features to the southeast of Walford Bridge are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a series of linear banks that extend across two historic fields situated on a curve of the river on the easts ide of East Borough. The features are typically narrow and rectilinear in form and sub-divide the larger historic fields. One feature has the appearance of a small sub-square 33.5m by 33.5m enclosure. The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.
The site is a 20th century school and playing fields on current Google Earth imagery but some features remain visible closer to the eastern river edge. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
