A post medieval gravel pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the south of Downley Copse, Witchampton. It is visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and on more recent lidar imagery (1-2). The site was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
