Full Description
A banked rectilinear feature at what is now Kittiwake Close, Bournemouth, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature comprises a narrow near right-angled linear that extends between two sides of a historic field present on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The linear corresponds with an access entrance to the field across the railway on its north side (2).
The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary or trackway of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is housing (Kittiwake Close) on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
