Full Description
The cropmark of a possible Bronze Age ring ditch measures approximately 10m across and is situated within one of the rectilinear features.<1>
A partial ring ditch is visible as a cropmark to the west of Hawthorn Farm on a 2010 aerial photograph <2>.
The ring ditch measures around 11.85m in diameter and around 0.3m wide. It's northeast side is not visible in 2010 (1). The ring ditch is situated within a series of cropmarks associated with rectilinear enclosures, pits and trackways that are probably part of a late prehistoric agricultural settlement of Iron Age/Romano-British origin (MDO40575). The feature is located within one of these rectilinear enclosures and may be associated with the settlement but its form and size may alternatively suggest an earlier feature, possibly a Bronze Age barrow.
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
