Full Description

Ditched linear features to the south of Hawthorn Farm are visible on 1960s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a number of narrow rectilinear ditches that run broadly parallel and perpendicular to one another on a southeast to northwest axis. The features are situated in a field on the south side of the lane from Hawthorn Farm and only 75m from features associated with a probable late prehistoric agricultural settlement (MDO40575) to the west of Hawthorn Farm. The regular form of the features suggests historic field boundaries or drainage features of probable post medieval date, although given their proximity to these earlier features an earlier origin is also possible.

Some of the features may be partially visible on current Google Earth imagery. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
