Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features at Burton are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise narrow linears both rectilinear and slightly curvilinear in form. They divide historic enclosures present on the OS 1st Edition map within a field pattern probably derived from late to post medieval intake on nthe southern edges of Winkton Common. The features are considered likely to be field boundaries of probable post medieval origin, although an earlier date is possible.
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
