Full Description
Ditched linear earthworks on Winkton Common to the west of Burton are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features comprise a long curving linear that follows the bend in the river, along with a series of shorter linears inter-connecting between historic field boundaries. The features are considered to be trackways of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The features remain visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
