Summary
Banked and ditched linear earthworks on Winkton Common to the west of Burton are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are considered to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Banked and ditched linear earthworks on Winkton Common to the west of Burton are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features are considered to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.
The majority of features remain visible, albeit faintly in some cases, on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
