Summary

A ditched linear feature at Purewell, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is considered likely to be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched linear feature at Purewell, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature divides a field whose boundaries are present on the OS 1st Edition map and it is considered likely to be a historic field boundary of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.

Current Google Earth imagery shows that the feature is under the roundabout of the 20th century improvements to the A35 trunk road and is no longer visible . The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
