Full Description
Two ditched curvilinear features on the west side of Stoney Lane, Purewell, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features run broadly east to west and are slightly curvilinear in form, with the outward curve to the north. The two features are parallel to each other and roughly 90m apart. They divide a field whose boundaries are present on the OS 1st Edition map and they are considered likely to be field boundaries of possible medieval date, although a later origin is also possible.
The features are still faintly visible on a 2002 aerial photograph (2). They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
