Full Description

Linear banked earthworks on Harley Down are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The features may be a continuation of field boundaries and enclosures to the south (MDO5594), probably of late prehistoric origin, perhaps Iron Age or Romano-British in date. Some of the features may be conflated with field boundaries of post medieval or modern origin. Poorly defined cropmarks present on 1940s aerial photographs for this area indicate the field system may continue west at least across the adjacent field (2).

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
