Full Description
SU 0273 0922. A Bronze Age round barrow has been mapped from aerial photographs by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The barrow is defined by a circular ditch 28m in diameter. Traces of the mound are visible on some photographs. This barrow is probably associated with an extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group (SU 00 NW 2), which lies about 630m to the west. (1)
The possible site of a Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark mound with outer ring ditch on aerial photographs taken in 1945 (1). It lies immediately to the north of Matterley Drove Farm and is possibly an outlier to the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. The barrow mound is 27m across and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
