Summary

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post, opened in August 1963 and closed in September 1991. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The post was found to be in a good condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. The site is located underground (with surface features) in a small rectangular compound measuring 10m by 6m across on the south side of Woodcutts Lane. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as a part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The post was found to be in a good condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. <2>
The post was opened in August 1963 and was closed in September 1991. The site is located underground (with surface features) in a small rectangular compound on the south side of Woodcutts Lane. <3>
