Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the southwest of Wimborne St Giles is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The extractive pit is sub-oval in form and measures 59.6m across by 34.7m wide. It is shown as 'old chalk pit' on the OS 1st Edition map. It is visible as a parchmark on a 1945 aerial photograph (2).
The feature is visible as a shallow tree-filled depression on a 2014 aerial photograph (3). It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
