A post medieval extractive pit to the southwest of Wimborne St Giles is visible on current Lidar imagery. It is shown as 'old chalk pit' on the OS 1st Edition map. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

A post medieval extractive pit to the southwest of Wimborne St Giles is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The extractive pit is sub-oval in form and measures 59.6m across by 34.7m wide. It is shown as 'old chalk pit' on the OS 1st Edition map. It is visible as a parchmark on a 1945 aerial photograph (2).

The feature is visible as a shallow tree-filled depression on a 2014 aerial photograph (3). It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
