Full Description
Undated ditched linears to the east of Avenue Lodge, St Giles's Park, are visible on 1997 aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features have a slightly curvilinear form and are aligned broadly southeast to northwest, with one perpendicular to these on a roughly south to north axis. The features align with other similar linear features to the east (MDO40321) and also with some of the historic field boundaries present on the OS 1st Edition map. They are considered to probably represent field boundaries of medieval or post medieval origin but an earlier date is also possible as they may be associated with a wider late prehistoric or medieval field system to the north and east (MDO39515).
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
