Summary

A sub-circular double ring ditch to the southeast of Glebe Farm, Wimborne St Giles, is visible as a cropmark on 1989 aerial photographs. The feature may represent a Bronze Age barrow. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A double concentric ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. It is located a little southeast of Glebe Cottages and immediately west of round barrow SU 01 SW 24. [NB this site was previously recorded as part of SU 01 SW 86].

A sub-circular double concentric ring ditch to the southeast of Glebe Farm, Wimborne St Giles, is visible as a cropmark on a 1989 aerial photograph. <4>

The ring ditch measures 34.6m in diameter, with an outer 1.2m wide ditch and an inner 1m wide ditch 4m apart. The feature is presumed to represent a probable Bronze Age barrow. It is located adjacent to the west side of a larger bowl barrow (MDO6296).

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
