Full Description

Parallel ditched and banked linear features are visible at St Giles's Park on a 1989 aerial photograph (1).

The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and run parallel to each other on a broadly east-west alignment, abutting and perpendicular to a linear earthwork to the west (MDO6279) thought to be potentially prehistoric in origin but with probable medieval and post medieval re-use. The northernmost linear comprises a narrow bank with two possible flanking ditches at its west endf. The southernmost linear comprises a series of ditched linears truncated by later landscaping. The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of probable medieval origin, although a post medieval date is also possible.

The features are no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
