Summary

A Sand Pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the west of Higher Manor Farm House, Hinton Martell. The site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and is still visible on lidar imagery. The features marked by the OS are only a small part of a larger area of shallow extraction visible on the lidar, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

A Sand Pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the west of Higher Manor Farm House, Hinton Martell (1). The site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946(2-3) and is still visible on lidar imagery (4). The features marked by the OS are only a small part of a larger area of shallow extraction visible on the lidar, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
