Full Description
ST 94030925. Two concentric rings. Diameters (approx) i) Outer ring 35m, ii) Inner ring 27m. <2, 2.1, 4>
The probable Bronze Age round barrow referred to above <2, 2.1, 4> is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, including that listed as source 2 & 2.1. The barrow is centred at ST 9407 0921 and is defined by two concentric ring ditches which measure 16m and 22m in diameter. The size and shape of the cropmarks suggest that the site could be the plough levelled remains of a Prehistoric funerary monument such as a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area (eg ST 90 NW 162 / UID: 1481016). No barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit is visible. <1, 1.1>
Two concentric ring ditches identified on aerial photograph. The outer ring ditch has a diameter of 35 metres and the inner ring ditch has a diameter of 27 metres. The feature is visible as a pronounced double concentric circular cropmark on aerial photographs dated 1969 <3> and was digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
