Monument record MDO40183 - Concentric ring ditches, Tarrant Launceston

Please read our .

Summary

A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The barrow is defined by two concentric ring ditches. The outer ring ditch has a diameter of 35 metres and the inner ring ditch has a diameter of 27 metres. The size and shape of the cropmarks suggest that the site could be the plough levelled remains of a Prehistoric funerary monument such as a Bronze Age round barrow. No barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit is visible. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
