Full Description
SU 0252 0893. A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The barrow is defined by a single circular ditch 11.8m in diameter. It is probably associated with the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group (SU 00 NW 2), although it lies 690m to the southeast of the main concentration of barrows. (1)
Fragments of a possible ring ditch 14m across are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1970 to the south of Matterley Drove Farm (2). It is possibly the site of a levelled Bronze Age round barrow and is one of a pair of potential barrows (the other being described in MDO40120). It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
