Full Description

SU 0273 0898. Fragmentary rectilinear enclosures and linear ditches, probably representing Prehistoric or Roman enclosures and field boundaries, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, and have been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The largest enclosure is 125m x 120m overall, with three sub-divisions, and other linear ditches and fragmentary enclosures appear to the south. These enclosures are probably associated with two possible square barrows (SU 00 NW 98, SU 00 NW 99) adjacent to the large subdivided enclosure. A probable linear trackway (SU 00 NW 101)seems to run through this enclosure group. <1-2>

They are considered to be field boundaries and/or enclosures of later prehistoric or Roman origin and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
