Monument record MDO40070 - Bronze Age round barrow, one of the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group, Knowlton, Woodlands

A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs from 1976. The barrow, defined by a circular ditch, is part of the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. The feature has been mapped by English Heritage’s Knowlton Circles Project and digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

SU 0273 1025. A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The barrow is defined by a single circular ditch with a diameter of 13.8m. It is part of the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. <1>

A sub-circular ring-ditch on the southeast edge of the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group is visible as a cropmark on 1970s aerial photographs. <2>

The ring ditch is 16.5m in diameter and the ditch 1.3m wide. The feature probably represents a Bronze Age barrow.

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
