Monument record MDO39872 - Possible post medieval extractive pits, possible marl pits, Gussage All Saints

A cluster of sub-circular pits are visible as cropmarks to the northeast of Gussage All Saints on a 1995 aerial photograph. The features may be chalk or marl pits of medieval or post medieval date, although an older origin is possible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

A cluster of sub-circular pits ranging between 4m to 8m in diameter are visible as cropmarks to the northeast of Gussage All Saints on a 1995 aerial photograph (1). The features may be chalk or marl pits of medieval or post medieval date, although an older origin is possible.

The pits are located within a cropping field on available DCC vertical aerial photographs (2005 - 2014) and the features are occasionally visible at different times and different years (2-4).

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
