Summary

A series of post medieval extractive pits are visible on the east side of Dudmoor Lane, Christchurch, on 1940s aerial photographs. The pits may be sand or gravel pits but may include some features of natural origin. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A series of post medieval extractive pits are visible on the east side of Dudmoor Lane on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The pits may be sand or gravel pits but may include some features of natural origin. A linear ditched feature running southeast to northwest between the pits may be a post medieval or modern trackway.

The features are within partially open ground and under tree cover on a 2014 vertical aerial photograph and are not visible (2).

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
