Full Description

A sub-circular mound visible on the southern slopes of Blackwater Hill on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery may be a prehistoric mound or possible Bronze Age barrow (1 and 2). The banked earthwork measures 35m by 30m and has relatively steep sides, with a 4m by 6m circular depression on its summit. A possible post medieval or modern extractive pit visible on 1940s aerial photographs appears to have been cut into its east side (MDO39790) (1).

The site is under tree cover and the features are not visible on a 2014 vertical aerial photograph (3).

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
