Post medieval drainage on the west bank of the River Avon at Sopley is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The linear ditches underlie current field boundaries, the majority of which are shown on the OS 1st Edition map, suggesting they are mid 19th century or earlier in origin (2).

The features are still visible on current Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
