Summary

Ditched linear boundaries to the east of Dayman`s Wood, Hurn, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are likely to be field boundaries and drainage channels of post medieval in origin, although an earlier date is also possible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

Ditched linear features to the east of Dayman`s Wood, Hurn, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The features are likely to be field boundaries of post medieval origin, although an earlier date is also possible. In common with exisiting field boundaries along this section of the west bank of the River Avon, the boundaries may also have been in the form of banked drainage channels.

The features are still faintly visible on current Google Earth imagery and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
