Full Description

A series of banked and ditched linear features to the north and west of Dayman`s Wood, Hurn, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).

The linear banks and ditches underlie a post medieval drainage system (MDO39700), which in turn underlies historic field boundaries shown on the OS 1st Edition map. The features are therefore probably associated with field boundaries of medieval or early post medieval origin.

The features are still visible on current Google Earth imagery and were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
