Full Description
A low indistinct mound on the ridgeway within Quomp Copse is visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The feature may be a possible Bronze Age barrow, one of a wider barrow cemetery on the ridgeway to the east (incorporated within MDOs 8807-10; MDOs 39664-7; MWX3257-9 and Hob UID 458505) .
On current Lidar imagery this feature is shown as a low mound measuring around 15-16m in diameter (1). The form of the mound is low and spread, with indistinct edges. A shallow depression north of its centre may be the result of tree removal, or possibly excavation. It may be the remains of a Bronze Age barrow but alternatively it could be a feature of natural origin.
The mound is under tree cover on current Google Earth imagery (2).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
