Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit and trackway on the west side of Avon Common is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The area of extraction measures approximately 40m by 22m and is accessed by a trackwayfrom the north; possibly truncated by an early 20th century power plant or sewarage farm.
The extractive pit is still visible on current Google Earth imagery as a disused earthwork within an area of regenerated heathland scrub (2).
The extractive pit was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
