Full Description
An extensive series of trackways are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946-7 running roughly north south across the western end of Cranborne Common (1-2). They are cut by the Salisbury and Dorset railway and are considered to be ancient routeways across the common possibly originating in the post medieval, medieval or even earlier periods. Some of the trackways are now under modern planation but others are still visible on recent digital photographs (3). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
