Full Description
A small historic or modern enclosure on Barnfield Heath is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The sub-circular enclosure measures 6m by 6m and has no obvious entrance.
The enclosure may be modern and associated with wider wartime military activity on the heathland north of Christchurch. Alternatively it may be medieval or post medieval agricultural enclosure, possibly a bee garden.
The enclosure was sited on open heathland in 1949, at which time it appeared as relatively indistinct and overgrown (1). It is no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery.
The enclosure was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
