Monument record MDO39445 - Medieval or later pillow mound, Alderholt Common, Alderholt

One of several mounds visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Alderholt Common. Possible site of a medieval or later pillow mound. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

One of several mounds visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Alderholt Common. Possible site of a medieval or later pillow mound. This is the largest of the mounds being `T`shaped, It`s longest axis is 115m long including a circular mound 11m across at it`s southeastern end. It is flanked on all sides by a ditch.The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP. The site has since been ploughed (2) and the features are no longer visible on recent digital imagery (3).
