Full Description
An area of open gravel extraction 144.2m by 154m on the east side of Fairmile Road is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). Extraction relatively small-scale by 1946 and partial earthworks of barrow (MDO8675) still visible at this time (1). Extractive area appears to continue being worked through 1940s and 1950s; A 1960 aerial photograph shows the extractive pit in disuse (3). The area is under housing on 200 Google Earth imagery (4).
