The probable site of a large Second World War bomb impact crater is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 in the vicinity of Egmont Drive, Avon Castle (1). The curvilinear hollow is 27m across and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP. The site was destroyed by housing by 1969 (2).
