Summary

Parallel ridging associated with drainage ditches of probable late 19th century or early 20th century origin are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 to the west and on the site of the visitor centre for Avon Heath Country Park, Barnsfield Wood. The features are to either side of Foxbury Road, Grange Estate. There has been some minor urban infill since the 1940s when some of the features have been destroyed, much however is still visible on recent imagery. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

Parallel ridging associated with drainage ditches of probable late 19th century or early 20th century origin are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 to the west and on the site of the visitor centre for Avon Heath Country Park, Barnsfield Wood (1). Some of the features have since been plough-levelled since the 1980s (2). Some are still visible under scrubby vegetation on recent imagery (3). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
