Please read our .

Summary

The large hollow, 20-24m across, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 at Matchams Park. The hollow is irregular/rectilinear in shape and may be associated with extraction or tree-clearance but a Second World War bomb impact crater cannot be ruled out. The site was visible within open heathland in 1946, there has been no major land disturbance since this date although the earthwork may have been partially levelled and is no longer visible on recent imagery. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
