Summary

The site of a Second World War bomb impact crater is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 on Racecourse Heath. This area has since been developed and is under housing; the location of the crater is in the gardens to the south of Fir Tree Close, St Leonards, it is no longer visible and likely to have been levelled. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

The site of a Second World War bomb impact crater is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 on Racecourse Heath (1). This area has since been developed and is under housing; the location of the crater is in the gardens to the south of Fir Tree Close, St Leonards, it is no longer visible and likely to have been levelled (2-3). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
